NERIDA Quartet

NERIDA Quartet

Germany/Switzerland

Performance: Round 2, String

The name Nerida has been chosen in reference to the nereides of ancient Greek mythology, symbolizing the flowing and ever-changing element of water. Founded in autumn 2018, the NERIDA Quartet performs regularly in Germany, Italy and Switzerland. The quartet has benefited from lessons by Jean-Guihen Queyras, Peter Rainer, Isabel Charisius (Alban Berg Quartett), Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett), Gregor Sigl and Eckart Runge (Artemis Quartett). Currently, they are being coached by the violist Patrick Jüdt. In 2019, the ensemble was accepted into the foundation Le Dimore del Quartetto and performed at the festival Music with Masters in Pistoia. In 2020, the ensemble received a scholarship for the Musique à Flaine academy and was a scholarship holder at the Chamber Music Campus of Jeunesse Musicale Germany the following year. In 2021, the quartet was accepted into the renowned European Chamber Music Academy. In November 2019, the ensemble won the sponsorship prize at the Boris Pergamenschikow Prize for Contemporary Chamber Music Competition at the Hanns Eisler Academy in Berlin and was awarded 1st prize at the Swiss Chamber Music Competition ORPHEUS. Invitations to the Swiss Chamber Music Festival Adelboden and the Ernen Music Festival in September 2020 followed. The NERIDA Quartet was also a finalist at the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes 2020 and prizewinner at the Schenk Foundation Competition 2021. That same year the quartet was a guest at the Zunftkonzerte Zurich and the klangundszene Zurich chamber music festival, among others, and in 2022 were guests at the Bern Musikfestival and Gent Festival van Vlaanderen.
